LODGE SASSA APPEAL for R350 Grant
Reconsiderations for the period from May 2020 to March 2023 has all been completed by Sassa therefore they are not accepting any new applications for reconsideration for the period. Appeals are being accepted by the dsd through their portal.
An appeal has to be lodged on the dsd website within 30 days of the outcome being available. Applications are verified on monthly basis. Should the client not meet any of the qualifying criteria, the application is declined for each month that the qualifying criteria are not met.
To reconsider the application, the client is verified against refreshed databases and also against a means test through the Banks, to verify if the client has an inflow of funds into the client’s account amounting to more than R595 per month.
-Should the client be receiving an amount totalling more than R595 per month, the application for reconsideration is declined.
-Should the client not be receiving an amount of more than R595 per month, the application for reconsideration is approved and paid.
-The reconsideration decision is final. Should the client wish to dispute the reconsidered decision, he/she should follow the legal route and approach the court.

DECLINE REASON: Alternative_income_source_identified
MEANING: The applicant has been employed and is indicated as contributing towards income tax
WHAT MUST THE CLIENT DO TO DISPUTE OUTCOME: The client can submit a request for appeal via the website, should they feel that the reason is invalid.
DECLINE REASON: Identity_verification_failed
MEANING: The personal information provided does not match the Department of Home Affairs details.
WHAT MUST THE CLIENT DO TO DISPUTE OUTCOME: 1. The client must correct name and surname on SRD website under the request names and surname update

DECLINE REASON: Existing_sassa_grant
MEANING: The applicant is a current recipient of a Social grant other than a child grant
WHAT MUST THE CLIENT DO TO DISPUTE OUTCOME: The client can submit a request for reconsideration via the website, should they feel that the reason is invalid.
DECLINE REASON: Nsfas_registered
MEANING: The applicant is receiving a benefit from National Student Fund Aid Scheme
WHAT MUST THE CLIENT DO TO DISPUTE OUTCOME: The client can submit a request for reconsideration via the website, should they feel that the reason is invalid.
DECLINE REASON: Uif_registered
MEANING: The applicant is eligible for UIF benefits based on TERS OR Contributions to UIF OR is currently receiving the Unemployment Insurance Fund benefit
WHAT MUST THE CLIENT DO TO DISPUTE OUTCOME: The client can submit a request for reconsideration via the website, should they feel that the reason is invalid.
DECLINE REASON: Gov_payroll_registered
MEANING: The applicant is in employment in a government institution
WHAT MUST THE CLIENT DO TO DISPUTE OUTCOME: The client can submit a request for reconsideration via the website, should they feel that the reason is invalid.
DECLINE REASON: Suspended (Deceased Record on DHA)
MEANING: The client is registered as deceased on the Department of Home Affairs database
WHAT MUST THE CLIENT DO TO DISPUTE OUTCOME: 1. Contact Department of Home Affairs to correct living status.
2- The client can submit a request for reconsideration via the website, should they feel that the reason is invalid, only after having corrected the details with Home Affairs.
DECLINE REASON: Age_outside_range(>60)
MEANING: The applicant does not qualify for the grant due to not meeting the age requirement ( Over 60)
WHAT MUST THE CLIENT DO TO DISPUTE OUTCOME: The client must apply for the old age grant, this can be done by visiting any SASSA Local Office or applying online at https://servcies.sassa.gov.za

Clients who previously cancelled the grant, and who would like to re-activate the grant, due to a change in their circumstances are welcome to re-apply.

Step1: Go to srd.dsd.gov.za.
Step 2: Scroll down to the lodge an appeal button
Step 3: Click on the appeal button
Step 4: Enter your ID number and cellphone number used for the application
Step 5: Click on the send pin
Step 6: Enter Pin number and click submit
Step 7: Start Appeal Process to have your rejection overturned
