Update from Sassa: April Pending Approval begins on Wednesday 19th April 2023.
According to Sassa, beneficiaries of the srd grant do not need to reconfirm or reapply for the Sassa r350. This is because Sassa will automatically consider them for April 2023 and subsequent months if they qualify for the grant.
Its also been rumoured that from the third week of April, many will start seeing their April pending Status. These are unconfirmed rumours so it’s best to wait for official communication or contact sassa through their official social media handles or email.
Currently, the April r350 SRD has not been reopened for application or reapplication by SASSA. Those who apply end up not getting April pending status. As such it’s best to exercise patience.
Sassa has not made any official announcements about it too on any of their social media outlets platforms. Neither the Minister nor the Communications team of the agency made any announcements.
It’s best to wait for an official direction from Sassa which will be announced soon. The exact time is not known for the announcement but hopefully before the end of the month.
The Sassa R350 Srd was introduced at the start of the covid pandemic to help families and individuals afford the basic necessities in life. Although it was largely scrutinised for the effort, the government continued and kept it running over the years.
Naysayers started out saying it was unsustainable, especially in getting the funds to continue running the programme year after year. Although it has been tough to continually get funding for the payments the South African government has not relinquished in its efforts to continually assist the vulnerable and needy with grants and other supports.
Currently, there are over 6 million people on grants and other forms of government welfare across the country according to recent publications from news and government agencies.
These grants are in the form of child grant, foster child grant, old age pension, caregivers grant, disability grant and others. If you find yourself in need of any social grant assistance, contact Sassa on any of their social media handles. The best place to get a quick response is by emailing them. or through facebook.
